See the degree grade →The Minor in Finance gives Lafayette students a structured, interdisciplinary introduction to financial decision‑making, risk management and market dynamics. It suits students from quantitative majors (math, engineering, computer science, economics) as well as liberal‑arts backgrounds who want technical finance skills plus context for ethical and societal impacts.
The minor is structured around required core courses, an ethics elective, a skills elective, an applications elective and a capstone.
To declare the Finance minor, students petition in their junior or senior year. The minor is available to the Class of 2029 and later. Members of earlier classes (2026–2028) are eligible instead to complete the Certificate in Financial Policy and Analysis; the certificate has its own listed course prerequisites and requirements.
Graduates with this minor develop analytical, programming or quantitative skills paired with finance knowledge—useful for internships or careers in corporate finance, financial analysis, risk management, banking, policy analysis, and roles that bridge technical disciplines and financial decision‑making. The program also supports students planning further study in finance, economics or related professional programs.
The program page does not list specific scholarships. Students should consult Lafayette College financial aid and departmental resources for college‑level scholarships, work‑study, internship funding, and faculty contacts who can advise on external scholarships or paid research/internship opportunities.
