The curriculum builds a solid foundation in biological and behavioural sciences before moving into core nursing theory and practice. Early coursework typically covers human anatomy and physiology, microbiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology, lifespan development and health assessment. Core nursing modules emphasise medical‑surgical nursing, maternal and child health, paediatric nursing, mental health/psychiatric nursing, community and public health nursing, and gerontology.

Entry requirements

• Secondary school diploma or equivalent with a competitive cumulative GPA. Typical preparation includes college‑preparatory coursework in biology and chemistry, mathematics and English.
• Completion of required prerequisite college courses (for transfer applicants these often include anatomy and physiology, microbiology, chemistry, statistics and developmental psychology or lifespan courses).
• Many nursing programmes require a standardised admissions assessment (for example, the TEAS) and a supplemental nursing programme application in addition to the university application.
• Evidence of basic life support (BLS) certification, up‑to‑date immunisations, health screening, and eligibility to participate in clinical placements (background check and drug screening) are required prior to clinical courses.
• International applicants must meet English language proficiency requirements and provide academic records for evaluation.

Career prospects

Graduates are eligible to sit the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX‑RN) to become licensed registered nurses. Career pathways include direct clinical roles in hospitals, community and public health, primary care, mental health services, paediatrics and long‑term care.
