What you'll study

The programme blends practical studio training with theoretical and historical study. Core areas include ballet, modern/contemporary technique, jazz and improvisation; composition and choreography labs; repertory and ensemble performance; and somatics and injury-prevention principles. You will also take courses in dance history, kinesiology for dancers, music for movement, and dance pedagogy. The curriculum is structured to develop technical competency, creative problem solving and critical reflection, through daily technique classes, directed choreography projects, rehearsed productions and written assignments.

Entry requirements

Applicants should hold a high-school diploma or equivalent. Admission typically requires an audition or submission of a recorded performance portfolio demonstrating technical ability, musicality and expressive range; some applicants may be invited to an interview. You will also need academic transcripts and at least one academic reference. Standardised tests may be optional; check the university’s admissions guidance for current test policies. Mature applicants with significant dance experience are considered on an individual basis.
