What you'll study

The programme balances daily studio technique with coursework in choreography, dance history and somatic studies. Core studio classes typically include ballet, modern/contemporary technique, jazz and improvisation, along with partner work and repertory rehearsals. Composition modules train students in choreographic methods, phrase development and collaborative creation, while academic seminars cover dance theory, cultural contexts, anatomy for dance and injury prevention.

Entry requirements

Applicants are expected to hold a secondary-school qualification equivalent to a high school diploma. Admission normally requires an audition demonstrating technical ability, musicality and performance presence; recorded audition submissions are often accepted for remote applicants. Most applicants also submit an academic transcript, a personal statement outlining dance experience and goals, and at least one letter of recommendation (academic or professional).

Prior experience in multiple dance styles is strongly recommended. International applicants must meet the university's English-language proficiency requirements. Specific portfolio, audition format and placement testing information are provided by the department and should be consulted during application preparation.
