What you'll study

The MPA curriculum balances foundational public administration subjects with applied methods and elective specialisms. Core topics include public management and leadership, public budgeting and finance, policy analysis and programme evaluation, ethics and accountability in government, and organisational behaviour. Students also study quantitative and qualitative research methods, data for decision‑making, and grant writing.

The programme typically culminates in a practicum or capstone project in which students work with a public agency, non‑profit organisation or community partner to solve a real policy or management problem. Elective options allow specialisation in areas such as urban policy, environmental and sustainability policy, non‑profit management, health policy, social justice and equity, and public sector innovation and technology.

Applicants should hold a recognised bachelor’s degree. Admissions typically consider academic performance, a personal statement outlining professional goals and commitment to public service, a current CV or resume, and at least two letters of recommendation. Relevant work or volunteer experience in government, non‑profit, or community organisations is valued and can strengthen an application.

Some applicants may be asked to provide transcripts from all post‑secondary institutions attended.
