What you'll study

The programme provides a blend of core project management theory, applied techniques and research methods. Modules typically cover the project lifecycle, project planning and scheduling, risk and quality management, procurement and contract management, stakeholder engagement and communication, and leadership and people management for projects. You will also study strategic perspectives on programme and portfolio management, governance and benefits realisation, and contemporary approaches such as Agile and other adaptive delivery methods.

The course includes practical work with case studies, group-based project simulations and use of project tools for planning and monitoring. You will complete a substantial independent project or dissertation that applies project management methods to a real problem or research question, demonstrating your ability to integrate theory and practice.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold a good honours degree (or international equivalent) in any discipline. Applicants with a lower second-class degree and relevant professional experience may also be considered. Professional experience in a project environment can strengthen an application, and applicants without a traditional academic background may be admitted on the basis of prior learning or relevant work experience.

International applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency. Applicants are assessed on the overall strength of their academic record, references, and, where required, a personal statement outlining motivation and relevant experience.

Graduates go on to roles such as project manager, programme or portfolio manager, project analyst, PMO coordinator, change manager and management consultant across sectors including construction, engineering, IT, healthcare, public services and financial services.
