What you'll study

The programme combines core public health training with specialised coursework in veterinary epidemiology and One Health. Core topics typically include principles of epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental and occupational health, health policy and ethics. Veterinary-focused modules cover infectious disease ecology, zoonoses, outbreak investigation, surveillance systems, diagnostic principles and applied field methods.

Students can expect hands-on quantitative training in study design, data analysis, and modelling of infectious disease transmission, plus instruction in spatial analysis and geographic information systems (GIS) as applied to animal and human populations. The curriculum is designed around classroom-based courses, applied laboratories or computer practicals, and experiential learning through a practicum or field placement. A final capstone project or thesis applies epidemiological methods to a real-world problem in veterinary public health.

Entry requirements
