What you'll study

The programme covers core areas of psychology and emphasises both scientific literacy and applied skills. You will study introductory and advanced topics including developmental psychology, social psychology, abnormal psychology, cognitive psychology and biological bases of behaviour. Research methods and statistics are threaded through the curriculum to build competence in designing studies, analysing data and interpreting results.

• Core courses: Introduction to Psychology, Research Methods, Statistics for Behavioural Sciences, Lifespan Development, Abnormal Psychology, Social Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Biological Psychology.
• Applied and practicum work: Field practicum or internship placements in community human service agencies, counselling centres or schools, supervised by faculty and site supervisors.
• Capstone and electives: Senior seminar or capstone project involving an empirical research project or applied practicum report; electives may include topics such as personality, health psychology, forensic psychology, substance use, and multicultural counselling.
• Skill development: Coursework emphasises research literacy, ethical practice, assessment basics, interpersonal skills, and written and oral communication.

Entry requirements

Applicants should hold a high school diploma or recognised secondary school qualification. Felician typically looks for evidence of academic readiness demonstrated by a competitive GPA and a record of coursework in English and mathematics. Submission requirements commonly include a personal statement and one or more academic or character references. Standardised test scores (SAT/ACT) may be considered where submitted, but admission decisions take a holistic view of each applicant.
