What you'll study

This MSc covers the theory and practice of supply chain and operations management, balancing strategic decision-making with quantitative modelling and digital tools. Core topics typically include supply chain strategy and design, operations management, procurement and supplier management, logistics and transport, inventory control, forecasting and demand planning, and risk and resilience in global supply chains.

Teaching combines lectures, case studies, workshops and practical labs that use analytical and simulation techniques. You will study module-level content such as process improvement and lean operations, supply chain analytics and optimisation, sustainable and circular supply chains, and the impact of digital technologies on operations. Assessment methods usually include group projects, individual coursework, exams and a substantial independent research or consultancy project — often completed with an industry partner or on a topic linked to current research.

The programme is normally available full-time over one year, with part-time or flexible study options common for students balancing work commitments.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold a good undergraduate degree (equivalent to a UK upper second-class honours) in a relevant subject such as business, management, engineering, logistics, economics or a related discipline. Candidates with a lower-class degree and substantial relevant professional experience in operations, procurement, logistics or consulting may also be considered.

All applicants whose first language is not English must satisfy the University’s postgraduate English language requirements. You may also be asked to provide a personal statement explaining your motivation for the course and, where relevant, a CV and references that demonstrate your academic and/or professional suitability.
