What you'll study

The program combines biomedical science, clinical reasoning and hands-on physiotherapy practice. Early years emphasise human anatomy and physiology, movement science, pathology and foundations of therapeutic exercise. As you progress you study specialist clinical areas — musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiorespiratory and paediatric physiotherapy — together with assessment and intervention techniques, manual therapy, exercise prescription and electrotherapeutic modalities.

Clinical education is integrated across the degree through supervised placements in hospitals, community health services and private clinics. The honours component requires a supervised research project that develops skills in research design, data collection and critical appraisal of evidence.

Entry requirements

Admission is competitive and typically requires completion of an Australian Year 12 or an equivalent secondary qualification with required subject prerequisites. The university looks for strong achievement in science-related subjects; biology or chemistry and English are commonly recommended or required. Applicants from tertiary study or alternative pathways may be considered on the basis of prior university study or recognised allied health qualifications.

International applicants must meet equivalent academic standards and demonstrate English language proficiency through accepted tests or qualifications. Selection may also consider personal statements, referees, interviews or supplementary information where applicable.
