What you'll study

The program combines core project management theory with applied tools and a major project to develop practical competence in leading projects. Typical modules include:

• Project Management Fundamentals – principles of project life cycle, scope, integration and project governance.
• Project Planning and Scheduling – techniques for time management, Gantt and network diagrams, critical path analysis and resource levelling.
• Risk and Quality Management – identification, analysis and treatment of project risk, quality assurance and continuous improvement.
• Procurement, Contracts and Commercial Management – contracting strategies, tendering, supply-chain relationships and contract administration.
• Leadership, Stakeholder Engagement and Ethics – communication, negotiation, team leadership, stakeholder analysis and professional responsibility.
• Project Finance and Cost Control – budgeting, earned value management, cost forecasting and financial decision-making for projects.
• Research Methods for Project Management – research design, data collection and analysis techniques appropriate to project-based research.
• Major Project / Applied Project – an independent, practice-focused project or consultancy-style project that integrates learning and demonstrates applied competence.

Delivery emphasises applied learning through case studies, industry-sourced projects, group work and the use of standard project-management software. The program structure typically consists of taught coursework followed by a supervised major project or thesis component.

Entry requirements

• A recognised bachelor’s degree in any discipline, or equivalent qualification. Applicants with significant professional experience in project-related roles may also be considered.
• Academic transcripts demonstrating satisfactory performance at undergraduate level. Some applicants may be asked to provide a statement of purpose or portfolio showing relevant practice or projects.
• English language proficiency demonstrated by a recognised test or equivalent where the prior qualification was not taught in English; specific score requirements are set by the university.
• Additional requirements for some applicants may include a CV/resume and referee reports, particularly for those applying on the basis of professional experience.
