• Core components: a substantial research project or dissertation in law and advanced legal research methods; practical skills sessions such as advocacy, mooting and legal drafting; and assessment of applied legal knowledge through a combination of examinations and coursework.
• Typical optional modules: commercial and company law, international human rights law, employment law, family law, advanced criminal law and procedure, intellectual property, international trade and arbitration, competition law, and public law topics. Availability of options varies by year.

Entry requirements

Final year entry is designed for students who have already completed substantial undergraduate legal study elsewhere. Applicants are assessed on prior academic performance, module coverage and suitability for entering the final year of the LLB.

• Typically successful applicants will have completed the equivalent of the first two years of an undergraduate law degree at a recognised institution, with transcripts showing satisfactory performance.
• Applicants should normally demonstrate that they have covered foundational law subjects (for example contract, tort, criminal law and public law) as part of their prior study, or have completed an approved law conversion (such as CPE/GDL) where relevant.
• Oxford Brookes will require academic references and certified transcripts; transfers are subject to validation of prior learning and may require a formal review of modules.
