What you'll study

This program provides core knowledge across the major areas of psychology, combining theoretical foundations with applied methods. You will study subjects such as developmental psychology, cognitive and neuropsychology, social psychology, personality and individual differences, and abnormal psychology. A strong emphasis is placed on research methods and quantitative skills: you will complete units in experimental design, data analysis and statistics, and practical laboratory method courses.

The course typically includes a sequence of research‑focused and capstone units where you design and carry out empirical projects, interpret data and present findings. Electives allow you to explore related topics such as health psychology, workplace psychology, forensic psychology and community mental health. Entry requirements

Applicants are usually required to hold a recognised senior secondary qualification or equivalent tertiary study. Mature‑age applicants and those with relevant work or community experience are also considered. International applicants must meet CQU's English language requirements or provide evidence of an approved English proficiency test. For those wishing to practise as a registered psychologist, the Bachelor of Psychological Science provides an appropriate undergraduate foundation but is not sufficient for professional registration. Graduates who seek registration typically progress to accredited postgraduate study or a supervised pathway in order to meet the professional training and registration requirements for practising psychologists.
