What you'll study

The program combines technical foundations with management and strategy subjects to prepare graduates for contemporary information systems roles. Core study areas typically include systems analysis and design, databases and information management, enterprise architecture, IT project management, information security and governance, and data analytics for decision-making.

• Core modules – systems analysis & design, information systems strategy and governance, IT project management, enterprise architecture, and information security fundamentals.
• Technical modules – database design and administration, data analytics and visualisation, web and application development concepts, and systems integration.
• Management and professional practice – IT service management, business processes and digital transformation, risk management and compliance, and stakeholder engagement.
• Capstone or research project – an applied project or research thesis that integrates technical and managerial learning to solve a real organisational problem or investigate an information systems topic.

Delivery is commonly offered through a mix of online and on-campus teaching, using case studies, industry-based projects and practical labs. The program is structured to allow full-time and part-time study, and may offer exit pathways or credit for recognised prior learning where applicable.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally required to hold a recognised bachelor degree in information technology, computer science, information systems, business with an IT component, or a related discipline. Applicants who hold a degree in an unrelated field but have substantial relevant professional experience in IT or systems roles may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

• Academic background – a recognised undergraduate qualification in a relevant field, or approved equivalent.
• Professional experience – relevant work experience can strengthen applications, and may be required for applicants without a directly related undergraduate degree.
• English language proficiency – applicants whose prior studies were not in English must demonstrate competence in English through an accepted test or recognised evidence of prior study in English.
• Further requirements – some applicants may be asked to provide a CV, references or attend an interview. Advanced standing or credit may be granted for prior learning and relevant postgraduate study.
