What you'll study

This programme blends core business disciplines with specialist modules in logistics and supply chain management. In the first year you build foundations in management, marketing, accounting, economics and quantitative methods, alongside an introduction to logistics and operations. In later years study typically progresses to modules such as supply chain strategy, procurement and supplier management, transport and distribution, inventory and warehouse management, forecasting and demand planning, operations management, and sustainable supply chains.

Teaching methods include lectures, seminars, case studies, group work and computer-based simulation exercises. You will analyse real-world supply chain problems, use industry-standard software where available, and apply data analysis techniques to optimise processes. The degree normally culminates in an independent final-year project or consultancy-style business project that applies theory to a practical logistics or supply-chain challenge.

Students can usually tailor their studies with optional modules covering areas such as international business, project management, business analytics, entrepreneurship and digital supply chains. There are also opportunities for work-based learning: many students choose an optional placement year in industry or a shorter placement module embedded within the degree, and the programme makes use of employer partnerships for live briefs and guest lectures.

Entry requirements

Applicants are expected to have completed secondary education equivalent to UK A-levels. The programme considers a range of qualifications including A-levels, BTEC and other vocational qualifications, and recognised international qualifications. Mature applicants with relevant work experience are welcome and assessed on an individual basis.

Typical offers will list acceptable subject combinations and any preferred subjects, and applicants should normally demonstrate competence in numeracy and communication. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the University’s English language requirements and may provide an approved test certificate or evidence of prior education delivered in English.

The programme is designed to prepare students for graduate entry to employer graduate schemes run by retailers, manufacturers, third-party logistics providers (3PLs), transport companies and public-sector organisations.
