What you'll study

This honours degree builds on core exercise science and health disciplines and adds a focused research component. Typical subject areas include human anatomy and physiology, exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor control, public and population health, chronic disease prevention, behaviour change and health promotion, nutritional aspects of physical activity, and ethics in health practice.

The honours year places particular emphasis on research skills and independent inquiry. You will undertake advanced research methods and statistics subjects and complete a supervised honours thesis or major research project, which develops skills in study design, data collection and analysis, scientific writing and critical appraisal of literature. Practical laboratory and field-based components are integrated throughout the degree, and many students also undertake industry placements or internship units to gain applied experience.
