This programme covers the core knowledge and skills of speech pathology, combining theoretical study with practical and clinical experience. Early units introduce foundations such as anatomy and physiology of speech and swallowing, phonetics, language development, and principles of assessment and intervention.

Entry requirements

Admission is typically based on completion of secondary school or an equivalent qualification, with evidence of competency in English. Selection may consider academic achievement, a personal statement or supplementary information, and in some cases an interview or aptitude testing.

• Domestic applicants usually apply through the relevant state tertiary admissions centre or ACU’s admissions pathway; international applicants follow ACU international admission processes.
• Prerequisite study in English is commonly expected; prior study in sciences or health-related subjects is advantageous but not always required.
• Enrolment requires compliance with professional placement conditions such as immunisation, a current police check and appropriate workforce checks for working with children or vulnerable people.
• English language proficiency must be demonstrated by international students through recognised tests or equivalent qualifications as specified by the university.
