What you'll study

The programme balances core theoretical foundations with applied skills and a substantial research project. • Applied Practice and Professional Skills — hands-on training in the tools and techniques used in professional settings, project management and communication of technical material to different audiences.
• Regional Case Studies and Fieldwork — field-based modules that make use of the Maltese islands and Mediterranean context to examine real-world applications and constraints.
• Policy, Regulation and Governance — how the field interfaces with policy, regulatory frameworks and stakeholder engagement.
• Dissertation/Independent Research Project — an extended piece of original research supervised by academic staff, demonstrating the ability to conduct independent scholarly work.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold a recognised undergraduate degree in a relevant subject, typically at least a good second-class honours degree or its international equivalent. Candidates with substantial relevant professional experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis. All applicants should demonstrate academic readiness for graduate study; some modules may require prior knowledge of specific methods or techniques.

International applicants whose first language is not English will be required to provide evidence of English language proficiency through an approved test or qualification in line with University of Malta admissions policy.
