What you'll study

  • Foundation modules: discrete mathematics, programming (Python and C/C++), operating systems, computer architecture, databases and networking fundamentals.

  • Advanced and elective modules: penetration testing and ethical hacking, security operations centre (SOC) practices, cloud security, IoT and embedded systems security, malware analysis, privacy engineering and legal/ethical aspects of cybersecurity.
  • Practical components: hands-on labs in network and systems security, capture-the-flag (CTF) exercises, use of industry tools (IDS/IPS, SIEM, vulnerability scanners), and sandboxing environments for malware analysis.
  • Capstone project and internship: a substantial team or individual final project that integrates technical and managerial aspects of cybersecurity, often carried out in partnership with industry, together with a professional placement or practicum to gain workplace experience.
