What you'll study

The curriculum covers foundational and advanced branches of political science with an emphasis on international relations and public policy. The course structure totals 135 credit hours across 45 courses designed to develop critical thinking, communication skills and practical research ability relevant to diplomacy, think tanks, media and public institutions.

Entry requirements

Applicants must hold a Secondary School Certificate or equivalent certified by the Bahraini Ministry of Education with an average of at least 60%. Candidates with averages below 60% may be admitted only if they are international-level athletes or artists representing Bahrain, or have at least one year of post-secondary practical experience; such admissions are capped at 20% of entrants and subject to University Council approval. Applicants from non-scientific secondary tracks must pass department-determined remedial courses.

All admitted students take a compulsory university English placement test. Scores 0–40 require ENG 099 (Remedial English); scores 41–120 require ENG 101 (English Language 1). ENG 099 is waived for students with IELTS ≥5 or TOEFL ≥450.

Partial academic excellence scholarships apply for the first semester only: 30% for high school averages 95–100%, and 15% for averages 90–94.9%.
