What you'll study

The curriculum emphasizes foundational counseling knowledge, development of therapeutic skills, and cultural competence for working with diverse populations across the lifespan. Students complete online coursework, participate in two immersive on-campus residencies for community-based learning and networking, and gain hands-on clinical experience through placements with agencies and facilities. Near the end of the program students undertake an internship practicum as part of their clinical preparation.

Scholarships & funding angle (general)

Marietta College received Ohio Behavioral Health Scholarship (OBHS) funding to support students in this program. For the January 2027 cohort, 10 full-tuition scholarships are available to Ohio residents; an additional 10 scholarships covering one year of tuition will be offered for the Fall 2027 cohort. OBHS provides eligible Spring 2027 students up to $15,000 per year across two years and provides the same one-year $15,000 funding for Fall 2027 students; Marietta College will match aid to fully cover tuition and general fees. Scholarship recipients must commit to working in an eligible underserved Ohio community for a period equal to the number of years of scholarship support.
