The Tianjin Government Scholarship (TGS) is a merit-based scholarship offered by the Tianjin Municipal Government to support outstanding international students studying at Tianjin University (TJU). The scholarship is available for Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs and provides tuition support, monthly living allowance, and medical insurance.

Bachelor’s Degree

  • Program Duration: 4–5 years

  • Scholarship Duration: 1 year

Master’s Degree

  • Program Duration: 2–3 years

General Requirements

  • Must be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China

  • Must be in good physical and mental health

  • Must comply with Chinese laws and Tianjin University regulations

Academic & Age Requirements

  • Bachelor’s applicants:

    • High school diploma

    • Under 25 years old

  • Master’s applicants:

    • Bachelor’s degree

    • Under 35 years old

Language Proficiency Requirements

Chinese-Taught Programs

  • HSK Level 5 with a minimum score of 180

  • Exemptions for:

    • Native Chinese speakers

    • Applicants who completed previous degrees in Chinese

English-Taught Programs

  • TOEFL ≥ 80 or IELTS ≥ 6.0

  • Exemptions for:

    • Native English speakers

    • Applicants who completed previous degrees in English

English MBA Requirement:

  • TOEFL 85 or IELTS 6.5

Application Procedure

Applications are reviewed jointly by Tianjin University and the Tianjin Government.
