What you'll study

The Diploma of Hotel Management combines operational hospitality skills with core supervisory management knowledge. Study areas typically include front office and reception operations, housekeeping management, food and beverage service and supervision, hospitality operations and events management, as well as workplace health and safety, basic accounting and budgeting for hospitality, customer service and marketing.

• Front office operations: reservations, check‑in/check‑out procedures, guest services and revenue awareness.
• Food & beverage supervision: service standards, menu knowledge, rostering and cost control basics.
• Housekeeping management: cleaning operations, room standards, inventory and laundry management.
• Hospitality operations and events: event planning fundamentals, banqueting, supplier coordination and operational workflows.
• Business and management skills: supervisory leadership, customer relations, basic financial literacy for hospitality and small business practices.
• Work health & safety and compliance: safe work practices, risk identification and legislative responsibilities in hospitality settings.
• Work integrated learning: industry placements or simulated training in campus hospitality facilities to build practical, on‑the‑job experience.

Entry requirements

Applicants are generally expected to have completed Australian Year 12 or an equivalent secondary qualification, or to be a mature‑age applicant with relevant work experience. Applicants whose first language is not English will need to demonstrate English language proficiency at a level suitable for vocational study (for example by providing an accepted English test score or other recognised evidence). All applicants may be required to complete a language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) assessment and meet any health and police check requirements associated with placement components.
