What you'll study

This programme combines foundational animal science with applied breeding and production techniques. You will study animal anatomy and physiology, animal nutrition and feed formulation, genetics and selective breeding, reproductive physiology and artificial insemination, and livestock health and disease control. Practical modules cover dairy, meat, poultry, camel and small-ruminant production systems, farm management and economics, animal housing and welfare, and laboratory techniques for animal science.

Teaching methods include lectures, laboratory practicals, hands-on farm training, supervised practical placements and field visits to commercial enterprises and research farms. In the final year students typically complete an extended research or applied project that integrates technical and management skills.

Entry requirements

• High school secondary certificate with a science track (biology/chemistry and mathematics preferred).
• Demonstrable competence in biology and chemistry at secondary level; some programmes expect satisfactory grades in mathematics.
• Meeting Qassim University general admission criteria, which may include aptitude testing and/or an interview.
• Proficiency in Arabic for instruction; competence in English is advantageous for reading scientific literature and for some course components.
• Successful candidates should have a practical interest in working with livestock and be able to participate in on-farm placements and fieldwork.
