What you'll study

The curriculum immerses students in anatomy and physiology of singing, biomechanics and acoustics, comparative teaching methods and repertoire spanning baroque through 20th-century French, German, Italian and English works. Core curricular elements listed include:

• CCM Vocal Pedagogy Sessions (three CCM sessions and one classical)

Practical components include a traditional culminating recital drawn from classical repertoire and opportunities to perform with the conservatory’s ensembles, main-stage and blackbox opera productions.

Entry requirements

Admission involves an audition; audition slots are limited and applicants are encouraged to apply by December 1, with a final application deadline of January 15 or when audition slots are full. The program is offered in a FLEX format allowing in-person or remote attendance; on-campus students additionally access conservatory performance opportunities and facilities.

Career prospects

Graduates are prepared to run private studios, teach voice across classical and some CCM contexts, direct vocal programs, or work as clinician-educators. The program’s research connections and JOVRC resources also support students pursuing scholarly dissemination at conferences such as The Voice Foundation Symposium and publication in journals like Journal of Voice and Journal of Singing.
