What you'll study

The early curriculum establishes core technical foundations in computer hardware, networking and software fundamentals. Semester 1 courses include:

• Communication Foundations (COMM 1100)
• Computer Systems - Hardware (COMP 1116)
• Introduction to Programming (COSC 1100)
• Data Communications and Networking 1 (INFT 1104)
• Introduction to Databases (INFT 1105)
• Mathematics for IT (MATH 1114)

Across the pathway students build skills in computer systems, network management, IT infrastructure and security. The program provides access to industry-grade networking equipment through partnerships (for example, donated Cisco switches) and includes embedded university credits to support progression into Year 3 of the degree.

Entry requirements

Admission requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or Mature Student Status plus Grade 12 English (C or U) and Grade 12 mathematics (C, M or U) with a minimum mark of 60 percent. Students in the transfer pathway must purchase their own laptop to meet program hardware and software requirements.

Graduates are prepared for technical roles across sectors such as technology, finance, healthcare and government. Job titles listed for program completers include:
