What you'll study

The degree requires 19 core units plus five electives. Core units listed by year on the course page include:

• Year 1: Information Technology for Business; Introduction to Programming; Interpersonal and Electronic Communication; Data Communications and Networks; Business Fundamentals; Decision Making and Problem Solving; Systems Analysis and Design; Database Design and Use.
• Year 2: Professional Issues in IS, Ethics and Practice; Information Systems Project Management; Enterprise Systems; Human Computer Interaction; Web Design; Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence; plus one elective.
• Year 3: Strategic Information Systems Management; Business Intelligence and Knowledge Management; Information Security; Managing People and Organisations; Capstone Project (double unit); plus three electives.

Electives may be selected from any Holmes undergraduate offerings with Course Convenor approval; availability depends on demand.

Entry requirements

Academic eligibility includes completion of an Australian Year 12, a Certificate IV or equivalent, or an approved Tertiary Preparation or Foundation Year program. English requirements include completion of English studies in an Australian senior secondary or tertiary context, or equivalent recent study with at least a 50% pass rate in a semester, or IELTS overall 6.0 with no band below 5.5. Career prospects

The course page identifies graduate roles such as business analyst, systems analyst, IT consultant, data analyst, project coordinator and web or systems developer. Longer-term pathways noted include IT manager, enterprise systems specialist, chief information officer (CIO) and digital transformation leader. The curriculum and capstone project are positioned to build job-ready skills applicable across industries including finance, government, startups and technology firms.
