Programme overview

This program provides pre-law preparation within a Christian liberal arts curriculum and an option to fast-track into law school via a 3+3 dual-degree arrangement. After completing three years of undergraduate study at WLC, eligible students may move into three years at a cooperating law school (Marquette University Law School or Regent University School of Law) to complete a Juris Doctor while earning a bachelor’s degree from WLC.

What you'll study

Coursework and experiences focus on the skills law schools expect: logical reasoning (formal and informal), oral and written communication, argumentation, negotiation, quantitative and qualitative research, analysis and synthesis of large information sets, and presentation development. Many students pursue the pre-law track within the Politics and Law major but may choose any major alongside an interdisciplinary set of supplemental courses tailored to these skills. Suggested major and minor combinations include business administration, communication, communicative arts, English, environmental science, interdisciplinary studies, history, philosophy, and theology. Students are encouraged to gain practical experience through the mock-trial debate team, Model United Nations, and membership eligibility in Phi Delta Phi.

Entry requirements

Students begin pre-law preparation at WLC as undergraduates. After three years at WLC, eligible students may transition to one of the cooperating partner law schools for the three-year J.D. portion. Pre-law students develop their undergraduate plan in coordination with their major academic advisor and the pre-law faculty advisor. The program also prepares students to pursue a competitive LSAT score.

Career prospects

Graduates have successfully matriculated to a range of law schools, including Marquette University, University of Wisconsin–Madison, Indiana University, University of Minnesota, University of the Pacific, University of St. Thomas, and Washburn University. Alumni pursue careers in private law firms and various public-sector legal roles.
