What you'll study

The GE curriculum spans the full undergraduate experience, beginning with COL 101 and LAS 101 (introductions to college and the liberal arts) and concluding with the Liberal Arts Capstone, LAC 401/402. WLC has adopted six Essential Learning Outcomes that GE courses develop: Creative Thinking; Critical Thinking; Ethical Reasoning; Effective Communication (spoken, written, visual, and digital); Inquiry and Analysis; and Intercultural Knowledge and Competence. The curriculum also requires a minimum of 12 academic credits in theology: three introductory credits plus nine credits that engage biblical theology, applied theology, and systematic theology.

Entry requirements

Completion of GE courses is a degree requirement at WLC; students should expect to take GE coursework throughout their undergraduate career. GE enrollment is part of matriculation into WLC programs rather than a separate admission process.

Career prospects

The GE curriculum prepares students for "lives of Christian leadership" by developing vocational clarity, transferable professional skills, and the ability to approach individual and social questions from multiple disciplinary angles. Through its theological component and professional-development elements, GE readies students for careers across many sectors by strengthening ethical reasoning, communication, and interdisciplinary problem-solving.

The GE curriculum is embedded in WLC degree programs; funding and scholarship eligibility are determined at the institutional and program level rather than by GE itself.
