What you'll study

The minor totals 18 credit hours. Requirements divide into a 9-credit discipline core and 9 credits of upper-division electives.

• Discipline core (choose three, 9 credits): HIST 1500G World History to 1500; HIST 1510G World History from 1500 to the Present; HIST 2700 US History to 1877; HIST 2710 US History since 1877.
• Elective requirements (9 credits): Any three upper-division (3000–4000) history courses, except HIST 4250 Teaching History in the Secondary Curriculum and HIST 4990 Senior Research Thesis Writing Component.

Program learning outcomes include the ability to articulate varied lived experiences in U.S. and world history and to evaluate the accuracy and bias of historical sources and modern interpretations.

Entry requirements

To matriculate into the minor students must have successfully completed at least one history course at UVU and be admitted to a bachelor degree program at the university.

Career prospects

The minor develops transferrable skills used in multiple occupations.
