What you'll study

The minor requires nine credits of discipline core courses: CS 1400 Fundamentals of Programming (3), CS 1410 Object Oriented Programming (3), and CS 2420 Introduction to Algorithms and Data Structures (3). Students then choose at least three CS courses numbered 3060 or above (9 credits) as electives to round out the 18-credit total. Program learning outcomes emphasize problem analysis for computational solutions, design and implementation of computing-based solutions, and implementation of common fundamental data structures.

Entry requirements

To complete the minor, students must earn no grade lower than C- in any CS course required for the minor. Advising is available through the Computer Science Department and assigned academic advisors; students are encouraged to plan their course sequence with an advisor and may use Wolverine Track to create an individualized plan.

Although this minor is not a standalone degree, it maps to roles and labor-market areas commonly associated with computing skills. Occupational categories listed with the program include:
