Entry requirements

Applicants must hold a master’s degree in nursing (an advanced degree in nursing) from an accredited program with a minimum GPA of 3.2. Current New York State licensure as a Professional Registered Nurse is required, along with current immunization and physical examination documentation. Applicants need two letters of reference addressing clinical competency and potential for advanced practice, a current CV/resume showing clinical practice in an acute care setting, and a minimum of two years of clinical experience. Note: applicants with an entry-level MSN must instead complete the Master of Science Program for FNP.

Career prospects

On successful completion, graduates meet the program requirements to be certified by the New York State Education Department as Family Nurse Practitioners, enabling advanced primary care practice consistent with state certification.
