What you'll study

The programme is offered through two primary pathways:

• GED® Preparation: focused study in the GED test subjects—math, science, social studies and language arts—supported by practice tests and test-taking strategies.
• English as a Second Language (ESL): structured lessons to improve reading, writing, speaking and listening for non-native speakers across multiple proficiency levels.

Qualifying students can also join Integrated Education and Training (IET) options that combine adult basic education with college-level vocational courses and industry certifications.

Entry requirements

The programme serves local residents and newcomers; specific formal entry criteria are not listed on the course page. Enrollment is supported by community partners (including the Migrant Farmworker Program, CareerSource and the Educational Opportunity Center) and program staff provide guidance—many instructors are bilingual and some are program graduates.

Career prospects

The Adult Education program links learners to workforce preparation through IET and dual-enrollment opportunities. Examples of career-aligned training available to students include Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), phlebotomy, manufacturing training, and College Credit Certificate programs in Business Specialist and Preschool Instruction. The College Credit Certificate option for GED students comprises two semesters and awards 12 college credits that can be applied toward an associate degree.

Scholarships & funding angle (general)

Program tuition is listed at $30 per semester for the fall term; the programme is funded by a Florida Department of Education grant and partners with local agencies to provide financial aid to qualifying participants.
