What you'll study

The course covers core technical and professional topics relevant to electrical installation. Compulsory areas include:

• Working safely and effectively in electrotechnical contexts
• Design, construction, testing and commissioning of electrical systems

• Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults

Entry requirements

This programme is intended primarily for students progressing from Level 2 electrical installation study; internal progressing students are given priority. External applicants may be considered where places are available, but interviews for external applicants are not normally offered until late August.

Career prospects

The qualification is designed to equip learners with the practical and theoretical foundations to progress into an electrotechnical apprenticeship and, subsequently, roles in electrical installation, maintenance and fault diagnosis within construction and related industries.
