An online, flexible bachelor's that lets students combine work experience and prior college credit into a customized program of study across areas such as management, leadership, technology and communication. Best suited to adult learners, transfer students, and professionals seeking an applied degree aligned to their career goals.

What you'll study

The degree requires two areas of focus, defined as either a minor or a certificate, each consisting of at least 12 credit hours (previous college credit may satisfy these requirements). Course offerings support applied topics tied to students’ chosen focuses; not every course listed on the catalogue may be delivered online, but all courses required for the degree will be made available to App State Online students. An internship is required prior to graduation.

Entry requirements

Applicants may enter as first-year or transfer students. Prospective first-year students and those who have not attended college since high school should consult the university’s First-Year Admission requirements. Applicants with college coursework since high school (including military service members, veterans, and second-degree seekers) should review Transfer Admission requirements. Students who previously attended App State should review Readmissions requirements. Transfer equivalency tools are available to check how prior coursework maps to Appalachian.

Career prospects

The programme is aimed at learners who want to translate existing professional experience and targeted academic study into career advancement. Graduates typically pursue roles that draw on management, leadership, communication or technical competencies aligned with their chosen focuses; the flexible design supports a range of career pathways determined by students’ focus areas.

Scholarships & funding angle

Students should explore App State Online scholarships, institutional aid and transfer credit options to reduce time-to-degree and cost; previous college credit can lower the number of required courses. Consult the university’s financial aid office for specific funding opportunities and eligibility.
