What you'll study

The curriculum covers core areas relevant to classroom practice and teacher preparation, including assessment, curriculum development, instructional methods, educational psychology, program planning, and adaptive technology. Coursework and individualized projects emphasize research-based instructional strategies, reflective practice and clinical internship application.

• Licensure preparation: designed to meet some eligibility requirements for initial North Carolina teacher licensure; candidates must also pass the edTPA for recommendation to an initial NC license.

Entry requirements

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited US institution with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 and submit a completed application meeting Campbell University general admission standards. No standardized tests (e.g., GRE) are required for full admission. Candidates who seek initial NC licensure must also meet content-area requirements (24 semester hours in the content area) as specified by the state.

Graduates typically move into classroom teaching and related education roles. The program identifies realistic pathways such as K–12 general classroom teacher positions, subject-specific secondary teaching, special education teacher roles, and district/school positions like curriculum designer, digital learning specialist, educational consultant and adult ELL instructor.
