A practice-focused graduate degree for certified K–12 educators seeking deeper pedagogical expertise, leadership in classrooms, and improved student outcomes. Best for current teachers or education professionals who want a flexible, hybrid program that can be completed while working.

What you'll study

Students follow a degree plan in consultation with an academic advisor and choose one of five concentrations. The program emphasizes advanced pedagogy and classroom practice rather than isolated academic research.

  • Special Education
  • Literacy
  • School Counseling
  • English Education
  • Teaching and Learning

Entry requirements

Applicants must be admitted to graduate studies at Cameron University and have a teaching certificate within the first 12 hours of graduate study. Two acceptable recommendation forms are required. A cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher is normally expected; applicants with lower GPAs may be conditionally admitted but must achieve a 3.0 at the graduate level.

Career prospects

Graduates are prepared to strengthen classroom instruction, take on specialist instructional roles, support student learning more effectively, and contribute to school improvement and equity efforts. Concentration choice (for example, school counseling or special education) directs graduates toward related specialist positions within K–12 settings.
