Programme overview

The Master of Education in Reading equips certified teachers with pedagogical skills and specialist knowledge needed to work with children who struggle with reading and to serve as reading specialists. The curriculum also readies graduates to review and develop reading curricula within their schools. Courses are offered online to accommodate working educators.

What you'll study

Study focuses on teaching reading methods, interventions for students who find reading difficult, and curriculum development for school reading programmes. Candidates must have completed basic reading or literature classes (or equivalent) before beginning the program; consult an academic advisor for the degree plan and course sequence.

Entry requirements

• Be admitted to graduate studies at Cameron University.
• Possess a teaching certificate within the first 12 hours of graduate study; students may take up to 12 hours without the certificate.
• Have completed basic reading/literature coursework or equivalent prior to the course sequence.
• Submit two acceptable recommendation forms.
• Hold a 3.0 or better undergraduate GPA. Applicants with a GPA below 3.0 may be conditionally admitted but must maintain a 3.0 at the graduate level.
