What you'll study

Coursework combines graduate-level professional education classes with concentration-specific requirements and supervised field experiences. The program prepares candidates for licensure across multiple tracks including Early Childhood (PreK–3), Elementary (K–5), Middle School (6–8), Secondary (6–12), Special Education Interventionist (PreK–8 and 6–12), and Visual Arts (K–12). Students take internal and external assessments such as Praxis II and the edTPA as part of program completion and licensure.

Entry requirements

Admission requires an undergraduate degree; for the subject-specific track applicants must hold an undergraduate degree in the content area or pass the Praxis II Content Knowledge exam prior to admission. To graduate, candidates must complete graduate coursework with a minimum 3.0 GPA, participate in field experiences, and pass required assessments (including Praxis II and edTPA). The alternative licensure pathway requires a partner school job offer and passing Praxis II Content Knowledge before admission if a transitional license is needed.

Graduates are eligible for initial teaching positions in public, private, and charter schools at grade levels matching their licensure track, from early childhood through secondary.
