What you'll study

The curriculum combines core seminary subjects with intercultural specialisations. Example course topics and emphases include:

• Intercultural Communication — principles and processes for communicating across cultural boundaries.
• Applied Cultural Anthropology — study of how culture shapes human life and implications for ministry.
• Understanding and Engaging Culture — analysis of cultural roots and the relationship between cultural expressions and Christianity, applied to evangelism, church planting, church development, and relief work.
• Principles of Contextualization — methods for fitting ministry practices into receiving social and cultural contexts.
• World Religions — examination of major belief systems to understand adherents' worldviews and behavior.
• A required six-credit-hour internship to provide supervised, practical intercultural ministry experience.

Entry requirements

Applicants need a four-year bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized institution and must submit official transcripts and a spiritual life reference. Applicants who studied at non-accredited pre-seminary institutions or who earned below a 2.5 GPA may be admitted on academic restriction. Those without a bachelor’s degree may be considered if they meet specified ministry and research/writing criteria. International applicants must provide TESOL scores and a financial certificate showing sufficient funding.

Career prospects

Graduates are prepared for a range of intercultural ministry roles in domestic and international settings. Typical outcomes include work as intercultural ministers, international church planters, missions agency staff, missions team members, NGO or relief organisation staff or executives, international aid workers, and chaplaincy positions (hospital or corporate).
