What you'll study

This programme emphasises interdisciplinary inquiry across the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences. You build a customised programme from a core of foundational courses in critical thinking, academic writing and research methods, plus disciplinary modules drawn from literature, history, philosophy, languages, cultural studies, sociology, political science, psychology and the natural sciences.

• Core skills: academic writing, argumentation, research methods, quantitative reasoning and information literacy.
• Humanities options: literature and literary theory, history, philosophy, religious studies, art and cultural studies.
• Social science options: sociology, anthropology, political science, psychology, economics and area studies.
• Natural science options: introductory courses in biology, environmental studies, and statistics to support interdisciplinary projects.

• Experiential learning: opportunities for internships, community-engaged projects, study abroad and faculty-supervised research complement classroom study.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold a recognised secondary-school leaving qualification equivalent to the national standard for university entry. Typical application materials include academic transcripts, a personal statement outlining academic interests and objectives, and references. Applicants whose first language is not English will need to demonstrate English proficiency through an accepted test or approved alternative evidence. Some applicants may be invited to an interview or to submit a writing sample, particularly when proposing a specialised interdisciplinary pathway.
