Students choose a specific level or method concentration (for example early childhood, elementary, secondary subject-specific methods, literacy, STEM, or special education methods) and take targeted modules that translate theory into classroom practice.

Applicants are normally expected to hold a relevant undergraduate degree and to have experience in P–12 education or a related educational setting. Preference is given to candidates who hold or are eligible for teacher certification, though some pathways accept education professionals without certification. Typical application materials include official transcripts, a current CV or résumé, a statement of purpose describing professional goals and the chosen level/method focus, and letters of recommendation. Some concentrations may require evidence of professional experience in the targeted level or subject area.
