Coursework options typically include advanced topics and methods in the chosen field—examples include molecular and cellular techniques for biological sciences; analytical methods and spectroscopy for chemistry; geoscience field methods and Earth systems analysis; advanced mechanics, optics or quantum topics for physics; and advanced calculus, statistics or machine learning for mathematics and computer science.
