What you'll study

The LLM combines taught modules with a substantial independent research dissertation, allowing you to tailor study to your interests. Core teaching typically covers advanced legal research methods and theoretical approaches to contemporary legal problems, while optional modules allow specialisation in areas such as commercial and corporate law, international law, dispute resolution and arbitration, intellectual property, human rights, regulatory and compliance law, and sport and entertainment law.

Teaching methods include seminars, lectures, case studies, group work and supervised research. Assessment is by a combination of essays, case notes, examined coursework, presentations and a dissertation or major research project supervised by an academic member of staff. Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold a good undergraduate degree in law (or a related discipline) from a recognised institution. Candidates with a lower classification may be considered if they demonstrate relevant professional experience or additional academic qualifications. Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate proficiency through an approved English language qualification at the level required for postgraduate study.

All applicants should submit a personal statement outlining their reasons for study, proposed areas of research or specialism, and any relevant professional or academic experience. References and a CV are typically required as part of the application.
