What you'll study

The programme combines technical cyber security topics with risk management, organisational resilience and human factors. Core themes include secure architectures and network and systems security, incident detection and response, digital forensics, resilience engineering, risk assessment and governance, and the role of human behaviour in security. You will also work on practical labs, group exercises and a substantial independent research project or industry-based dissertation.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold a UK upper-second-class honours degree (2:1) or equivalent in a relevant subject such as computer science, software engineering, electronic engineering, mathematics or a related discipline. Candidates with a lower honours classification plus relevant professional experience in IT, security or risk management may be considered. International applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency to a level acceptable to the university (for example, via recognised English tests or equivalent qualifications). Applicants may be asked to provide a personal statement and references, and shortlisted candidates could be interviewed.
