What you'll study

This honours degree covers core engineering principles across mathematics, mechanics and materials before moving into discipline-specific topics. Early years focus on engineering mathematics, statics and dynamics, materials and manufacturing, electrical principles, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics, and programming and data analysis for engineers.

In later years you study advanced subjects relevant to your chosen specialisation, systems design and integration, control and instrumentation, structural analysis or power systems, depending on the stream. The program culminates in a year-long honours research or design project that requires independent technical investigation and reporting, giving students experience in project planning, problem-solving and professional communication.

Entry requirements

Admission typically requires completion of secondary education with satisfactory results and prerequisite mathematics (for example intermediate or advanced level) and, for some streams, a science such as physics. Applicants with a completed technical diploma or relevant industry experience may be considered via alternative entry pathways. International applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency through approved tests or equivalent qualifications. Mature-age applicants with relevant work experience are also encouraged to apply and may be assessed on the basis of prior learning and employment.
