The Biomedical Engineering BEng/MEng at the University of Hull combines engineering fundamentals with life science and clinical application to design, develop and evaluate healthcare technologies. What you'll study

This programme builds core engineering knowledge alongside human biology and clinical application. In early years you study mathematics, materials, mechanics, electronics and programming together with introductory human physiology and biomechanics. Later modules apply those foundations to biomedical topics such as biomaterials, medical instrumentation, biomedical signal processing, medical imaging principles, tissue engineering and prosthetics.

The BEng route provides a professionally oriented honours degree with practical laboratory classes and a substantial design project. Opportunities exist for industrial placements or clinical visits to contextualise learning and build employability.

Entry requirements

Applicants should demonstrate strong achievement in mathematics plus at least one relevant science or engineering subject such as physics, chemistry or biology. The programme welcomes students with A-levels, BTECs or equivalent qualifications; applicants with vocational qualifications should show substantial technical content. Mature applicants with appropriate evidence of prior learning and experience are considered.
