What you'll study

This diploma combines technical front‑end skills with user experience (UX) principles and visual design. Teaching is hands‑on and project centred so you graduate with a working portfolio of websites and design artefacts.

• Foundations of Web Technologies – HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript for structuring and styling web pages, responsive design and cross‑browser considerations.
• User Experience and Interaction Design – user research methods, personas, user journeys, wireframing, prototyping and usability testing.
• Visual and Interface Design – design principles, typography, colour theory, layout, and tools for creating interfaces (e.g. design software and prototyping tools).
• Front‑End Frameworks and Tools – introduction to common libraries and frameworks, version control fundamentals (e.g. Git), and workflow tools for modern web development.
• Content Management and Accessibility – working with content management systems, basic site administration and implementing accessibility best practice to make sites usable for diverse audiences.
• Web Project and Portfolio – a capstone project designing and building a complete website or web application, incorporating UX research, prototypes and a demonstrable portfolio.
• Professional Practice – project management basics, client communication, presenting design work, and preparation for freelance or workplace environments; opportunities for short industry placements or practical collaborations where available.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally required to hold a secondary school certificate or an equivalent qualification recognised by the university. Admissions may consider applicants with relevant work experience or prior vocational training in computing or design.

• Basic computer literacy and familiarity with common software applications are expected.
• A working knowledge of English is advantageous because many technical resources and tools use English; instruction may also include Arabic components depending on the department.
• Applicants may be asked to submit a short statement of interest and, where applicable, examples of any prior design or web work (this can be informal).
