What you'll study

This diploma covers the technical foundations and hands‑on skills needed to implement and operate cloud-based systems. Teaching combines theoretical modules with practical lab work and a project or capstone to demonstrate applied skills.

• Cloud fundamentals: concepts of IaaS, PaaS and SaaS; cloud service and deployment models; cost and resource management.
• Virtualisation and servers: hypervisors, virtual machines, server provisioning and configuration management.
• Networking for cloud: IP addressing, routing basics, virtual networks, VPNs and load balancing in cloud environments.
• Operating systems and administration: Linux administration, Windows Server fundamentals and scripting for automation.
• Public cloud platforms: practical labs on major providers' service models and consoles (core services, storage, compute, identity and access management).
• Containers and orchestration: container concepts, Docker fundamentals and introduction to orchestration with Kubernetes.
• DevOps and automation: infrastructure as code, CI/CD basics, configuration tools and basic pipeline creation.
• Cloud security and governance: identity and access controls, encryption, compliance considerations and best practices for secure cloud deployments.
• Migration and operations: patterns for moving applications to the cloud, monitoring, backup and disaster recovery strategies.
• Project / capstone: applied team or individual project that integrates design, deployment and documentation of a cloud solution.

Entry requirements

Entry is aimed at students with a general secondary school certificate or equivalent. Typical requirements include:

• Secondary school (high school) certificate or recognised equivalent from an accredited institution.
• A reasonable grounding in mathematics and basic IT concepts; prior study in computing, information technology or related subjects is an advantage.
• Demonstrable English proficiency sufficient for study of technical materials; applicants whose instruction was not in English may be asked for an internal language assessment.
• Some programmes may require an entrance interview or internal placement test to assess readiness for the practical components.
• Work experience in IT is not mandatory but can strengthen an application for mature applicants.
