What you'll study

The certificate comprises the seven BACB-approved courses required for the verified course sequence. Each course includes both synchronous and asynchronous components. The courses are:

• PSY 572: Legal, Ethical, and Professional Conduct in Applied Behavior Analysis
• PSY 561: Foundations in Concepts and Principles of Applied Behavior Analysis
• PSY 562: Research Methods in Applied Behavior Analysis
• PSY 571: Special Populations and Applied Behavior Analysis
• PSY 563: Classroom Management and Applied Behavior Analysis
• PSY 580: The Organization Context for Applied Behavior Analysis (OBM)
• PSY 565: Advanced Concepts and Principles of Applied Behavior Analysis

Entry requirements

Applicants must already hold a master’s degree or be currently enrolled in a master’s program to be eligible for the certificate. A prior degree in education or psychology-related fields is not required but may be helpful. The seven-course sequence begins in the fall; applicants should submit the university application and required admission materials for review.

Career prospects

Graduates can apply behavior-analytic skills across many settings: K–12 education, corporate or governmental workplaces, healthcare institutions, services for people with autism spectrum disorder, and supports for individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities. The program prepares students to sit for the BCBA exam after completing additional supervision requirements; starting salaries for BCBAs are reported to range from $50,000 to $100,000.
